Levels of Services
Annual Review
We keep your file current and meet with you to go over your affairs. On an annual basis, we update your records such as your contact information, your health care providers and the location of your assets.
Personal Assistance
If you need something less than the service levels outlined below, please call us to discuss rates appropriate to your individual situation.
Activation of Level I
(limited management of affairs)
If you require ongoing Care and Management services, we will proceed to make arrangements to manage aspects of your affairs at your request. This process is somewhat labour-intensive for a period of about 1 month.
- We secure your assets
- We have your mail re-directed to ensure any financial correspondence is received in our office and ensure personal correspondence is delivered to you
- We set up accounting records
- We set up internal records to manage your affairs
- We contact your existing bank, financial advisor, accountant and any other appropriate parties
Once we have all your assets secured and we are managing and recording all your financial activities, we charge a monthly fee for Care and Management, based on a percentage of your assets and income.
- We maintain regular personal contact with you.
- Your assets will continue to be held in your name. We do not take ownership or custody of your assets.
- We continue to use your existing bank and bank accounts
- We work with your existing financial advisor, unless we see a solid reason why your portfolio should be moved.
- We report to you—and to any other person(s) you choose—on a quarterly basis about the standing of your accounts.
- We act by Power of Attorney for financial and real estate matters and by Representation Agreement for health care and personal care decisions.
- We will work to maximize your income and minimize your costs, but never at the expense of your comfort.
- At your request, we keep your family members and friends apprised of your condition and your location.
- We are at your disposal to take care of whatever needs may arise, including your errands and shopping (additional fees may apply)
- We support your desire for independence. We will do whatever we can to keep you in the comfort of your home, unless you are a risk to yourself or others. If your care cannot be managed at home, we will seek the best possible place for you to live with the resources available.
Activation of Level 2
(complete management of affairs)
When you call us or we are notified that you require service, we will proceed to make arrangements to manage all of your affairs. This process is labour-intensive for a period of about 3 months and is then followed by ongoing Care and Management services for as long as you may require:
- We ensure you receive the best possible care.
- We facilitate your relocation.
- We will acquire and coordinate any services or furnishings that you need during this period of transition.
- We manage your change of address, pay your bills from your account, and provide other helpful services, as the need arises.
- We make sure your pets are safe, your water taps are off, the heat is down, the fridge is empty.
- We remove your valuables for safekeeping and arrange for a house sitter or neighbour to check on your home regularly.
- We advise your insurance company about your new situation and ensure that the company makes necessary changes to your policy.
- If your home needs repair, we employ trades people that we know and trust, to ensure the best possible service.
